The time has come for me to depart. Alas, the itch for boost is too difficult for me to ignore. I am selling my 2008 Aveo5 with 130k 5 speed SV model. But, do not be fooled, this is a race oriented car with added luxury. Overall, this car is in great shape and was very well maintained, but has some minor cosmetic issues, as an almost 10 year old car would in New England. I use full synth Mobil one and K&N oil fliters (yes I notice a difference) and inspect my car regularly. There is NO RUST HOLES OR BUBBLING anywhere!!!! Some surface rust on the pinch welds where the rockers are but very minor. Paint shines, maybe a slight ding here and there as all daily cars have them. Color is the dark red variant, with gold rims and matte black accents. Needs nothing to daily.
Pros-
Fixed the wire junction and door lock known defects (if you know, you know how much that was a hassle)
New suspension all around, including updated strut mount rubbers, HR lowering springs
New Lower control arms, ball joints, inner and outter tie rods, sway bar bushings and end links, transmission mount
True cold air intake outside of engine bay
Replaced valve cover gasket, plugs, wires
24" LED light bar mounted in bumper, added OEM fog lights, blacked rear lights minus reverse section
FULLY FUNCTIONAL AIR CONDITIONING CONVERSION. Yes, you read that correctly. I installed AC on a SV Aveo.
Bumper quick release, allows very easy access to fog light, AC, and other servicing.
Wide 5 panel rear view mirror for panaramic viewing with custom LED "dome" lighting relocation/ hatch light
Switched all the door/rear speakers to decent ones, has BT head unit and sweet sub box
Added OEM spoiler, debadged the Chevy Bowtie off the rear
Tinted windows, rally tint stripe on top of windsheild. No rear tint, but would include if you wanted.
Full size spare (for what it is worth)
Currently sitting on 17x8" Rota alloy rims, light as all heck. Completes the look and doesn't look gaudy or over done. Gives crazy grip and handling in conjunction with the lowering. High performance tires with less than 10k on them.
Locking gas cap with 2 keys
Cons- it looks like a lot but all very minor.
Minor cosmetics. There is a scrape along the back bumper that is through the paint, but did not physically damage the integrity of the bumper. Also the bezel around one of the marker lights on the rear bumper has a small crack. I moved the liscence plate to the bumper after all that figuring it was already damaged, I like the look of the moved plate. The front fenders are flared out and rolled but not tucked in a typical manner. This does allow extra clearance for the large rims, and I was going to space the wheels and put on after marker fender flares which would do the car justice (if I planned on keeping the car). Could easily be swapped to factory panel.
During the AC install, I removed the front bumper and never put the nuts back on. Instead I used quick release fastener posts to keep the bumper on. Cool in theory, and the bumper won't slide off... but it sags just a little. Not enough to where the car looks depressed but it needs some sort of bracket in the front to pick it up about 1/4", unless you put the nuts back on.
There was a dent right in the middle of the hood from something on the highway, so I filled it, primed it and put a racing stripe on the whole car. Looks cool and you would never know as it is very smooth but I don't want to hide the truth on that one.
A typical issue- the gas hatch is not totally secure. When I say that, I mean it closes well but can be opened with ease if forced.
The AC compressor makes some noise but still works perfectly. Might be some idle bearing.
One of the trim pieces on the door is off. It is the one where you adjust the side view mirror. I have one though.
The only other thing I can think of is that the ball joints that are on there do not have grease nipples, but they are the kind that you don't have to take the whole LC arm off to change. They are not worn out anyways.
Extra parts!-
Set of headlights
Set of tail lights
Set of turn signals, one has a hair crack
I may have the stock air box? Who needs it anyways....
Stock radio, but again who needs that??
Overall, this is the most fun you may have in an Aveo without changing the engine. It was built by myself as an enthusiast and a driver amongst drivers. Functional and stylish, with the operator in mind.
The asking price is $2200 and I would be willing to travel some to meet for a serious buyer. I live an hour from NYC.
I would also be willing to trade for the right car, mainly a 1.8t Golf, 02-05 WRX with the 2.0t or possibly a Honda or Integra depending on the year or model (just ask). Open to other offers as well, and for just the right car I would take something with some repairs or quirks. Must run and drive as it will be my new daily. MUST BE STANDARD, I never learned automatic.
I will say when this is sold, so if I haven't, it is still for sale!
