      any interest?

2004 Victory Red Aveo LS, auto, 5 door. Rebuilt the engine early in 2011. Roughly a year later, it is down again. This time, it appears the bottom skirt of a piston broke off, allowing the wrist pin to pull out, and beat the heck out of the bottom of the cylinder. Having just rebuilt it so recently, just to have it self destruct, I'm over it. Can anyone help me figure out what a great body and interior are worth? Make an offer? Something?

Never heard of that happening with the piston before on these , but depending on the miles, I would say $1500~ with the idea that someone would replace the engine and have it running again if they bought it. If you could not get that, then you could possibly part the car out as well, it would take a lot longer, but you could get a little more money.

Thanks. I have gotten one offer, for $800. That ain't happening. As good as the interior and exterior look, I would be more likely to rebuild again, or replace, and then sell a running car, or just part it out. I appreciate the thought though, because input like your helps me figure out how to value it.

Yeah, $800 is way too low. The best way to price it is to see what the car is worth if it was running, then take off $1000-1500~. I figured you could at least get $3000~ (I assume there is 100k+ miles), so you would be sitting at about $1500-2000, I honestly do not know what cars are going for up there though, down here in Florida I would say those are the prices you would see.

But, what you can do (if you can do the work yourself) is to buy another 04-06 engine, swap them out, then sell the good parts off the engine you took out. That would offset some of the cost from the swap, and you will get the most money you can get for the car. I know if the head is good, you can get $200 easy for that alone. And I know someone who needs a brake fluid cap

I bought my 05 with its blown engine for $1500. It wasn't in great shape inside and out.
