Cool MI Dealers wanting 2010 Aveo

Anyone else been approached by Chevy Dealers wanting to buy their 2010 Aveo? I'm in Michigan, but I'm curious about anyone anywhere getting the same offer.

Funnily enough I haven't heard from the dealer I bought mine from on this, but I've had 3 other local dealers send me correspondence (each multiple times) offering to buy my 2010 Aveo as they have a lot of folks wanting to buy them.

The cynic in me thinks it's a marketing ploy to sell new cars, but I haven't noticed a lot of Aveos of any year for sale in the area, so there could be some truth in it. That they mention paying up to the private sale value also makes we wonder. They likely wouldn't give the top trade in price so why bother to mention the psv?

Four years in I'm still loving my Aveo. The mpg is wonderful (I consistently get more than the EPA reckon on) and I got through (and stayed on the road) during the awful winter of 2013-2014.

So much for the 'it's a junk car' brigade!

I have not had my aveo for a long time, but I still get flyers in the mail saying the same crap, it is a marketing ploy to get you in the door to buy a new car like you said haha.

Nothing like that for me, but I did make a small mistake when my mom bought her '09 Flex SEL.

I have a small obsession with the newer Kia Soul. To me, the compact car disguised as a mini suv thing is cool.

      Soooo, the mistake.
I was with my mom when she bought the Flex, and as some of you may know, Skittles has died (my Aveo5 ls). This was back when it was only a few weeks dead, and I was just going to swap it for something else until I could gather enough money to buy an older Impreza WRX. I saw a used '13 Soul, it was white (my favorite color on a car). I was looking at it so long that the dealer actually took a break from showing my mom cars to talk to me. He asks if I was looking into buying something like this, an I tell him that I might when my Aveo gets rebuilt.

Now whenever he has a Soul in, he calls us, or just waits till our next service to tell us about "the Soul that got away".

Dealers wanting Aveos......probably a marketing ploy, b ut akso consider the growing market for left-hand drive durable autos in Eastern European and Russian markets. Brokers are willing to ship others have alist of buyers overseas. No telling where that Aveo will end up that is for sale downthe street.

Also just read about SALVAGE TITLES, since I've looked at (4) AVEOS that have salvage or rebuilt titles When a vehicle is shipped overseas, say to Eastern Europe/ Russia, etc, the "salvage" branding is removed. Salvage means 75 to 90% of retail value in damage , contact, flood, or theft. These branded cars are hard to sell in USA, so why not gather them up and sell them to buyers overseas? Ethical?

Has anyone bought an AVEO, regardless of generation, with a "salvage" title? If so, what problems,if any, did you have, not withstanding the inspections and additinal fees, higher insurance/less payout, etc. I'm asking more from a mechanical/relibility standpoint. Thanks!
