Well I totaled Avery today and now I am in a predicament. Not having more than liability on the car the insurance won't do anything so my choices are to surrender it to the tow yard instead of paying for the tow or pull it out of there and start parting out what is still good. I was hoping some people here could either give me an idea as to which is probably the better plan or whether or not they need certain parts.
Just to give you all some more info, it was a front end collision so the hood, headlights, front bumper, rad support are all shot. The motor kept running so I am assuming it is still good along with the transmission. I believe the suspension is still good to be used.
Oooh, sorry to hear about the accident. I take it you're okay?
If you're handy, and even if you aren't... tow it home. Part it out on craigslist. The engine alone is worth a few hundred dollars. It will take some time to sell the parts, but you'll come out ahead. Use the forum to sell parts too.
Anthony, maybe you could tow it home and use Avery as your parts car when you find another Aveo of same year. I have a very low opinion of tow lots, at least the way thay operate in KC, MO. Don't surrender anything to those people! They operate in a gray area of the law. I hope you removed your personal items before your Aveo was towed! Good luck!
Forgot to ask, what year is Avery? I still need a few parts for my 2011 including a 15x6 factory aluminum wheel and factory grey floor mats, both sides.
