Nice dude, I hope she's runnin' right tommarow.
So, I finished somewhat with the AFPR install, got all the vacume lines attached, all bolts tightened, my problem is where to mount the thing. I found a spot over the DSM tag on firewall with 2 screws that looked out of place that were the same width as the mounts on the AFPR but the SS line wont reach far enough to use both screws. Temporarily I just used the one screw it would safely reach for mock up and tomorrow will drill holes in the fire wall as I have to get ready for work now. Also, I never want to work with SS lines again because they are such a bitch. I got stabbed in the hand so many times by random ass wires, my thumb is now like swiss cheese. Granted Im a slow learner and it took me a while to figure out how to put them together, never again.... til next project anyways ;) Well heres some pics:

Haha, well hopefully it's worth it. There's nothing worse than cutting yourself up to shreds working on your car just to have it leak or something lol.
!@#@ !@#$$# stupid #$%%@ damn ^&*@ i hate you dumb @#^&* fittings!

Restoration of the Talon is continuing. I need a few more parts and then I will be concentrating fully on the body of the car. As for right now she runs rough but since I swapped the hard pipes to soft pipes and put the stock intercooler in, she revs alot smoother, is more responsive, and the boost kicks in sooner now. CEL does not come on like it used to. Overall she is much healthier but the OEM fuel pressure regulator is still being overrun by the 255 walboro. I have an Aeromotive AFPR but I need an adapter piece and a 90 degree AN fitting.
I am figuring this car out slowly, but this excited me. I figured out I can set the headlights to any position and have them on or off or whatever. This is my fave:

Second fave, all lazy/stoned lookin:

And of course theres full up and down. Im a total newb and Im ok with that. Doesnt take much to excite me. :P
Damn life likes to set me back some times. Alternator went out, hopefully I can be up and running before weekend is over. AYE!!!
Got my new lash adjuster yesterday, they smell good. Will install them this tuesday or wednesday and hopefully my new alternator will be in by then as well.
Got the new lash adjustors in today, went way easier than last time. Also swapped in my AEM digital boost guage in place of the old Faze boost guage. That is all.
ive always heard eagles kind of junk, mostly the engine, but ive never owned one. I do see a lot of engine problems though all over the place. What do you think Mike?
Im learning the motor is good but everything around it sucks. These 4G63s can easily hold 700+ HP but everything around them fails. But another thing about these cars is that they are very maintenance specific but parts for them are cheap as hell and seeing as how its the same motor as in the Evos, the aftermarket for these things are endless. Also I live by AMS....
You'll learn with your first DSM that they are loads of fun and the possibilities are endless, but so long as you own it you will always be paying for it lol. They're great. My coworker is almost done with the motor for his 1G Talon tsi.
Is your friend on any DSM forums (DSMtuners/talk)? Whats his nametag? Tell him to come on here and post up in my thread.Quote:

No, hes not on the dsm forum. I don't know what hes done yet, but I know he had his blocked bored and stroked and he ordered a cam for it. I think he plans to run the stock turbo for now. His 1G has some sort of front end conversion so its not flip-up headlights anymore. He's fixin up the body and he's gonna leave it in black primer for a couple months before he pants it gunmetal grey. I'll see if I can snap some pics for you, I saw he painted his tranny and he said something about a stage 2 clutch.
how much did u spend on the car and all the parts so far?
I have to be around 1800$ or so. The body work is whats going to get expensive even tho its not that bad. Im mostly finding people to trade with for the parts I need so its not costing me too much other than what I already have.
New alternator is in. Im jumping for joy. She runs rough tho so now I gots to figure out why.
Didnt someone tell me these were gonna be nightmares or something? hell Im learning alot tho.
So, I blew the HG last week. Pics to come...
Great, if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any. That car is a curse.
I look at it as a blessing in disguise. Im learning alot.
it is good to have that mentality. There will be alot of "blessings" with a DSM
It must be some kind of religion... I mean you pray every day so it doesn't break on you, yet once a week it never fails... well it does and you're spending your Sundays fixing it.Quote:

I dont want to hear anything from anyone about TDC. I know. I ****ed up, but its ok.
you dont need to take it apart at TDC, but you have to put it together that way :P
I got the cams locked in place so they wont move and im not going to crank the motor at all so I think I should be ok. Only thing Im gonna have trouble with, only because ive never done it before is setting the tension on the T-belt again.
Side note: I got a new Torque wrench and it makes me happy.
Also got new exhauust manifold cus my old one had cracked runners underneath, I never saw them til I took it off. Picked up one for a 2g as they are supposed to flow better and are less prone to cracking.
