I spoke to the guy in the bodyshop that is taking care of my repair about replacing the bumper with the one that has fog lights but supposedly he said the existing one might works just by taking out the covers itself. Does anyone know if that my be a possibility?

it does work that way, pull the covers and fogs can go in.

And rear body panel damage? like the back of the trunk? The way the tethers for the child seats are right there has had me nervous for my kids (i dont use them) because if it gets hit above the bumper (by an suv) the rear body panel is the point of impact, and the tethers would pull my kids towards the collision head first..

Yea i added oem fogs to my aveo. There is a screw behind the black rubber piece so make sure you remove it before trying to pull the rubber cover off. I pulled and broke the black cover the first time because i didnt know there was a screw holding it in.

Oh ok yeah the guy told me the same thing but I just wanted to make sure about that. So far I don't think there is more damage in that area however my boyfriend took a peek through the side to look inside the rear bumber and the rear metal might be slightly bent.

Thank you for the reply, it is good that just removing the fog cover might solve it so I can put the fogs which I already have so did you see if it came pre-wired like some cars come from factory?

Mine didnt have any wires. I just ran wires from both fog lights to the battery and to my switch so i can control when my lights are on. The oems just bolt on to the same spot the covers do and i believe the ones i bought on ebay already had the bolt to hook it up. It came with light bulbs aswell im just planning on switching to 3000k HIDs in my fogs.
