Not to mention the supercharged ones are slow as aids. This new engine is gonna be much nicer with the exception of direct injection. Hopefully they make the internals stronger as well.
Well if the supercharged ones didnt meet emissions then they need to come up with new a emission system on the colbalt because turbo vehicle fail emissions more due to the fact that turbo vehicles take longer to light up the catOriginally Posted by mkt8891
obviously it isnt a problem or they would not waste the time and money making it the way they did. And is there even any proof saying they swapped from the supercharger because of emissions?
The supercharged cobalts are only 2 or 3 tenths slower than the turbo balts.Originally Posted by aveodude
plus the direct injection kills a lot of what could be out there for after market on the turbo balts.

theres a video...take a look at the times.
its not that much of a difference...the lowest ive seen is 13.9 on a magazine so you figure a super good driver may get 13.8 or 13.7.
The regular supercharged cobalts ran as low as 14.0 stock..
Not a huge difference.
And again direct injection is going to hinder a lot of the aftermarket for the cobalt. The Sky and Solstice have had the same engine for a few years now and there is still very very little out for them except for intake and exhaust and a few other small things.
Look at the aftermarket for the SS/SC. They cant make one fast without nitrous. Compare it to a SRT-4 or MS3 and you will see how much of a failure it was.
Your talking to the wrong guy buddy i know loads about ss/sc's and the other cars....MS3's do NOT have a huge following because they are using direct injection. Luckily for the MS3 they were very open to the few mods they have. It took the SRT-4 years to get the backing that they have in the aftermarket world and there are quite a few cobalts pushing over 350 hp with either a supercharger or turboed.Originally Posted by aveodude
A) it took the srt-4 3 years for a street car (full interior and driven to/from the track)to get into the 10s and that was without such great tuning options like HP tuners. It was ran off an SAFC. Name me a cobalt that has done that or even one into the low 11s.
B) the MS3 is leaps and bounds ahead of the SS/SC in terms of aftermarket and performance once after its modded. CAI is all it needs to crack off a 13.7 How much work does it take a cobalt to cut a 13.7 on stock tires?
Please dont think I dont know about some cobalts because I do. I have worked on many. Their greatest downfall is that crappy m62. No one is making fast times on the stock supercharger period. What times are those 350WHP cobalts running because power numbers mean nothing. Lets see some times.
whitfield racing cobalt is hittin 10s at a constant.
the aftermarket is there for a cobalt, but u gotta know where to look. alot of it is coming from small ma and pa shops.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.
