Do all Lexmark's suck? or just the one we got (Need Help)
Ok well my mom needed a printer and there wasn't much of a selection at the store since it was during the rush of shopping. We picked up a Lexmark x5340 printer and have had problems since day one. We went and got a different brand and are going to return this hunk of junk. The first problem was anytime you tried to printer from the internet, it wouldn't and you could not get that file cleared out of the printer, thus backing up every other file to be printed. And it was just the internet stuff (or so I thought) because I printed out so word docs (only one page each) and they worked. So i experimented and after a totally unnecessary combination of cancelling and selecting certain print windows, it finally worked. I could deal with that. Then I needed to print a 3 page word doc. Well I came back after hitting print and there was only two pages. So I thought that was wierd and maybe selected only two. Well I printed again and watched the progress of the printer and when i got to the last page to print, the printer skipped right to complete. Yet when I select just that page it will print it. I have my own printer that is last christmas's walmart special that work superb compared to this paper weight. So we are definately returning this hunk, but now here comes the kicker. I go to uninstall the printer and I get this message.
%InstallErrorTitle%
%BuildTemplateErrorMessage%
And i can't uninstall it, which I don't understand. I did it before when the first problem came up because I thought it was installed wrong. I would call tech support but I've googled the problem and it seems a lot of Lexmark have this problem and techs blame it on the computer and not the printer. So can anyone give me a clue to get around this? Or does my printer have a mind of its own and doesn't want to be taken back so its punishing me?

AveoSam..
Goto..Start - Settings - Control Panel - Printers & Faxes.
If theres more then one Lexmark in there you'll have problems.
Right click on your Lexmark printer and from drop down click "Delete".
If there's more then one "Delete" all printers.
If you did that already and No Go you could reinstall the drivers/software and then try to uninstall.
If that didn't work do a search on your computer for "Lexmark" and delete all files it finds.
Open "Regedit" and do another search for Lexmark and delete all keys.
I've seen computers with people's last three or more printer drivers still in there computers with out problems.
If you already know/did this sorry to waste your time...

see I knew one of you guys could help me....the reinstall and uninstall seems to be working. it said there were multiple copies of the software and drivers so I selected both. I will definately never buy a Lexmark again. I've never had such a bad experience with a printer like this before. Definately sticking with hp printers. My deskjet f2110 all-in-one has seen a lot of action and is still running strong. I am sure there is some kind of technical support I could go through the problems with but I really don't feel like talking with 'Bob' from India.

Aveosam..
If your hooking up by "USB" you should install the software first and hook the printer up when propted by install software.
If you don't you'll have problems after a restart/On Off cycle.
"You go now saMavEo & enjoy printer much problem free. I very much happy you."
Not tring to offend any one...BUT been there done that !
Most big companys have a "Chat" thingy in there web sites for problem solving.
Much easyer to understand then Bob.

One of the best printers I owned was a Lexmark.
There may have been problems with the drivers. I still know people having issues with Vista and peripherals. Now with the beta release of Windows 7 hopefully they'll get it right.
Definitely when installing a USB item, put in the disc first. As an experiment I did it the opposite way, attached the printer first. Printer went nuts.
Just be super careful in 'Regedit' though... delete the wrong key and you've got another paper weight on your hands. Always back up your registry before making any changes.
