Everything gets in the way!
Ok so i'm a bit over due on my oil change. Embarrassed to admit just how much.
First I couldn't do it, because I did not have anything to catch the old oil in. Finally bought a cheap oil pan from wal mart.
Now I gotta wait on a place to do it, I'm in the middle of a move and don't have full access to a driveway right now, and no where else is level that won't get the cops called on me.
Sooo, finally today I have access to a driveway, and just when I'm about to get up and get to work, it starts raining rather hard. everything is now soaked and it's not worth doing so in the rain.
I just needed to rant. Hopefully in a few minutes things won't get anymore wet, and I will just do the change despite the wet driveway.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
i hate that man. i bought a thermostat like 2 weeks ago and right when i started, the rain came.
then i lost 1 of only 2 botls on the dang thermostat. .
had 2 go 2 lowes and find another bolt. i put on the stat but i was lackin a FREAKIN o-Ring ](*,) lol i just now got the ring. so ill have 2 do it another day. i know the feeling man~
at least the oil filter isnt at a hard place 2 grab like my honda.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
Yeah, town hall parking lot for me. But thats only because I live right next door.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
I have a driveway. As for you guys complaining things get in the way. I challenge you to change the alternator on my car, in the driveway, without dropping the engine, without complaining and without pulling your hair out.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
i wont even start with my rants :o

Re: Everything gets in the way!
I work at a dealership. When I get close, I call a writer and say "My car has a weird vibration, can I take a look at it?"
They say SURE. Then I proceed to do my oil chance/service in a nice tiled shop with a hoist and everything. I love it.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
Lol @ the replies. those were a good reminder, that i'm not the only one.
I did get my oil changed last night, after the rain in the wet drive way. Now i just have to get rid of the oil.
As for the thermostat, I once took mine out of my old prelude, and ran for a couple days without it, somehow the housing held a seal, much to the confusion of everyone. I didn't know the seal was in the thermostat itself at the time. then the bolt broke in the housing and came out by just the threads holding it together.
Radiator, did that at a friends house for my dad's truck, lol my bud races dirt track so he kept the old rusty coolant.
Alternator. . . well they can't all be on top i guess. I blew 2 within 2 weeks on that same prelude when I installed a subwoofer, had to go to one from an accord that had more amps. Wish I could find that option on our the aveo.
oh and working in the shop is just cheating =D>

Re: Everything gets in the way!
c3customs, (aveosummit on here maybe?) has an upgraded alternator option, but its money. Not money like blowing out the stock one a few times, but more than the average aveo own thinks/wants to pay when they dont understand its needed for larger demand..

He can't rant in someone else thread. He'll post his own four or five threads complaining later.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
All I got to say is 3 car garages are awesome. So much so that my friends use my garage as a DIY repair shop. Oh yeah, and I got a full set of tools and an air compressor. I'm set.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
I have probably more than $20,000 in tools over the past 3 years of school, but not one of these tools sit at my house. They're either at school, or at a shop I'm working for. Plus even if they were here, I have no place to put them or work on my car.... I need a new house

I learned that the hard way on my last vehicle. I am aware that Higher output alts are available for the aveo, I just got spoiled on my 90 honda prelude with the option of using a 94 accord alternator. The alternator is on my list when The money comes in. I enjoy a quality sound system, and I know I will need the power to back one up. And a good grounding upgrade wich is actually on my list right now. I have an old kit from the prelude, that I never put in, and seeing as it's just wires and a metal plate, there is nothing to stop me from just throwing it in the aveo.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
My own shop would be great, but I have to graduate first and get a business plan rolling

Re: Everything gets in the way!
Im a bit spoiled myself. I got a drill pres, 2 grinders, all the necessary hand tools, 2 air compressors, impact tools, manuals, etc... Plus a full 2 car garage to work in. Downside: poor lighting and bad back. Upside: havent had to see a mechanic in a few years for any major repairs. Just for oil changes cus Im too lazy to do it myself and one other time for a check on my coolant sytem on my DSM that I had (turns out I was impatient but did it right).
I envy rabbit tho, for the monster machine he brought home a while ago.

Re: Everything gets in the way!
i don't even want to think about how much money in tools i have...
it cost as much as the monster machine to get the monster running.. had to rewire the from the street, update the house, and run about 200 ft of 00 cable..

Re: Everything gets in the way!

Re: Everything gets in the way!
I'm in the process of trying to find a place to rent with some friends. I'm hoping we get a place with a garage. It's already been made clear that I get the run of it :D
