i finally got my Megan muffler on and while i was at it i got rid of the stock pipes and went to 2" piping.

looks and sounds good, it sounds better without the silencer
I like it better without the silencer, but you might have to put a resonator to absorb some of the sound
where could i find one??
Give it about 10 miles to break in. Yeh Id def. get you a resonator put in. Seems like you have that same rasp as I do. Its not a big issue, but it only came about as soon as I took out the last resonator. I know Magnaflow makes them and Im sure others like Flowmaster and Borla do to. But looks good and clean and sounds fun! Thanks for the vids Melf!!! Appreciate it!
i was driving around with the silencer for about 20 miles and it just got way too loud for me. i drove back home and silenced it up. and i am deff going to be putting a resonator on.
heheheh wait til u hear the odd sounds of my exhaust. dan knows what im talkin about.

I with aveosam, id like a quiet and deep exhaust, not too much more than the stock, if it could match the intake pitch that would be perfect.

some of the cobalt guys seem to like vibrant exhausts... just a thought. also ur gonna want to match ur exhaust pipe size.
the only one that i could find that matched the 2" was the AERO and it was also $6 cheaper on a discount website.
so should i just shoot for that?
I worry about changing exhaust systems.
Nothing against the tuners, but I am more into the sound system than the exhaust system. I would rather my exhaust be silent.
The only thing that really annoys me is seeing a honda civic running around with a coffee can exhaust system, sounding like a pissed off bumble bee. That's just me though.
I will admit, however, that the stock exhaust on my Aveo is kind of annoying as well. high pitched, even as quiet as it is, it gets to be a bother..
Remove only the muffler. See how you like it, then if you do, you can get a pipe made up so the exhaust exits the vehicle completely....I should post a sound clip of mine.Quote:

thats also the thing i wanted to avoid. i dont wantto run around ike i have a leafblower under my car. thus explains why i bought a MR muffler, it comes with a double silencer. but i took a chance and removed the stock pipes (which has two resonators) and now i have a coffee grnder sitting underneath my car. which is why i am currently looking for a good resonator. i need to quiet the beast. :|
I'm curious to see how it sounds once you get the resonator. I really like the work, I think you have made good choices so far, though personally I would have gone with a smaller tip. Make another sound clip once you get the resonator installed.

well the family right next door saw my car leave in the moring quiet and sneaky, and when i came back in the afternoon with a new muffler and no silencer, they gave me the ":shock: OMG" look. they cant believe that im putting excesive amounts of money into my car to make it fast and loud.

You can always go with exhaust components from bigger displacement vehicles. For example, grab the stock muffler from a 3.1L V6, it will flow very well for our engine, yet it will keep things very quiet.
How about just grab a stock 3.1 L V6 and drop it in. then you'll be fast!!
well since i am not rich enough to find a good engine to blow away any comp over here, i will stick to the basic stuff.
i just ordered the aero resonator and i should have it soon and then i will wait a week to put it on....because i need to save money.

and if anybody is keeping tabs on poor little me, this project has been put on hold until after i install my new O2/flex pipe.
How was that going for ya with the O2/Flex Pipe?
i got the part in on friday, but since i work weekends, i have no time to pick it upfrom the dealer. on monday i was planning on heading down there and seeing what they will charge me to install an if its too much of a rip off, i will do it myself.
