      New Mazda 2

I had some time today and stopped at my local Mazda dealer to check out the new Mazda 2. Pretty cool little car. I took it for a drive and it was very crisp and responsive even for an automatic. I was hoping they would have a 5 speed there but they didnt. This particular was fully loaded with everything available in the way of options. It was priced at $17125.00. I was told a base 5 speed Sport would start at $13000.00. Steering and suspension was tight and it really did handle amazingly with very little body roll. Not a bad little car with a 1.5L.

~10% less power but also ~10% less weight. Probably evens out acceleration wise.

the test times are slower as well

kind of expensive though, like I said in my other thread, the mazda 3 is the much better deal out of the two

even the mpg's are medicore lol

I'm not saying I'm going to buy one but it wasnt a bad little car to zip around in. It drove nice.

Reviews I've heard say the 2 handles better than the Fiesta. How did it feel?

It felt tight. Crisp steering, very responsive, not too much body roll in corners, seemed to hold the road pretty damn nice. Not too much interior road noise. I'd buy one if I wasnt holding out for the 2012 Aveo.

Is it based on the Fiesta platform? Looks fun but the price deterred me.
A body to G Body to F Body to DSM to Subcompact?

      Re: New Mazda 2

i'm almost afraid if i test drove one of the new subcompacts out there i might not be an aveo owner when i was done.

i love my aveo, but know it was never designed to be the best of anything.

      Re: New Mazda 2

I have to say this. f*ck the Mazda 2. I'd get a Fiesta or an Aveo if I had to pick.

      - 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 - LQ1 3.4L DOHC 24 valve semi-hemi V6, 210 HP, 215 ft-lbs of torque, 4T60e 4 speed automatic with O/D.... 123,000+ miles. Slowly resto-modding it.
      - looking for a first gen Aveo for a daily driver :D
