New project vehicle
Sometime next week I'll be taking delivery of this beautiful albeit rusty beast. Its a 1951 Ford F1. Despite a ton of surface rust the body is in amazing shape considering its back from the days when a truck was actually used as a truck, not a luxury urban cruzer. I shouldn't have to spend too much time pounding out dents, straightening panels, and welding new metal in. Should be interesting, I'm quite familiar with mechanical work (which it needs a little of, but not much), but not body work. Got a lot to learn!

Nice project .... these can be really nice when restored or modified. Looks like someone lost their pellet gun target. You thinking frame-off, rolling restore, or something in between? Best of luck with it.
-
I'm not exactly sure yet. The truck is pretty simple so frame off might be the way to go and not be that much more work.
-
Nice find. Good luck with it and keep us posted

nice project and congratulations on such a wonderful fine. Frame off. It's how the manufacture put it together and it will be way easier for you.

Nice find, have fun fixing it up. Come down to east dubuque, IL sometime in the summer when you have it fixed. On thursday nights we have a free car show known as graffitti nights. All cars are 72 and older, a very nice crowd.

I'm jealous.
Even though I have way too many projects already. (TMP!)
I'd love a 30's to early 50's pickup. I'd leave the surface rust though - I like the look. Just fix the holes, mechanical & interior. :)
-
I would leave the body as is other than the needed patch work.. and then spray it low gloss clear to preserve it.. set it on an s10 frame with airbags.. and do a comfortable interior.

Face palm moment. i glanced at the second picture the first i though was wtf is wrong with the front wheels. then i realized those were the trailer wheels.
