Will have to add some picks but current cars are a C6 Vette, an Expedition, an 87 Monte Carlo and the one in my avatar which no one has guessed yet.
hard to tell because the picture is small but it looks like a bricklin, or a bradley or a sterling.
That is sad.
RIP...

I know this thread is old but I would like to revive it if you guys don't mind. :D
So here are a few pics of my other ride: 2006 HHR LT 2.4

I also have a 04 saturn vue awd deep blue in color and has 3.5 honda engine and 5 spd auto honda trans. same thing in the ridgeline and pilot... got lucky there didn't know until after I bought it. good rig!
Sounds cool! Can you post some pictures of the car/engine?Quote:

Lets see... I have a few I drive, and a few that I don't drive. :) As Darin would say, too many projects... but what does he know? :D
Most of the time I carpool with my wife in our 04 Prius.
http://ecomodder.com/forum/emgarage-...26e2957fe1.JPG
When we don't carpool, I drive my 97 Paseo. It has been modified to get better gas mileage.
http://tercelreference.com/downloads/paseo.jpg
But, in addition to working on the Aveo, I also am working on my 93 Tercel.
http://tercelreference.com/downloads/tercel_1.jpg
Here is a peek under the hood... :)
http://tercelreference.com/downloads/tercel_2.jpg
And, the next project down the road has already been mentioned once on this board. I have a 1973 Jaguar XJ12 (the 12 is for the # of cylinders :) ) that I am restoring.
http://tercelreference.com/downloads/jag_1.jpg
I also have two motorcycles. One is a 1982 Honda CM400, and I have my Dad's old 1965 Honda 65. Unfortunately, I don't have pics of em handy.
So, I pretty much like everything about cars. New cool technology, old classics, modified, stock. It doesn't matter, I find something I can appreciate in anything. I'd love to get my wife an old Ford truck, early to mid 50s... Perhaps once I finish a few more cars and add on to the garage. :)
Wow you must have a pretty big garage to hold all those cars lol but i like the jag your gonna restore very nice
lol this kid i knew from HS had a tercel and wanted to swap in a paeso(cant spell it) engine in it, he talked about it every day #-o but what the hell are you running on that tercel anyways?
The garage isn't that big, just a 2.5 car. Would love add on to make it a 4.5 car.Quote:

i drive all kinds of things. the aveo is #50 or 60 something of "legally" owned cars by me. Its well past 100 with all the cars, and i used to drive customers race cars, ferraris, etc when i was working on cars full time.
my current big project:

What are you planning on doing to the VW rabbit?
I was looking at getting an M45 for the Tercel too. At that point I couldn't find them for a reasonable price though. So, I went with the M62 and counted on just turning it a bit slower for the same output.Quote:

well, i am body dropping it 3 inches, because as you can see in the together picture, it needs lowered.
i am shaving the engine bay and raising the engine for clearance
i am building a high compression 16v stroker on itbs.
i am planning on swapping in a 6 speed but the logisitics mean i will have a 8" drive shaft.. so we will see.
if not a tall 5 speed with a lsd.
the body will eventually be restored but i like the patina look it has now. i am going to drive it a year with the new welds, in primer and paint, so i can make adjustments without redoing paint work.. then i will pull it off the road in a year or so tear it all apart check the structure and paint everything..
that charger looks like it has mounting points a lot closer to the pulley than the one i was looking at.. the problem i had was when the pulley would line up, the mounting points were just too far back and the brackets were going to be overly complicated.
i was going to eliminate the power steering and basically "exchange" pulleys to be the charger instead of the ps pump.

OK, no. :)
That's the parts car for a couple other cars, one being this Metro that I converted to electric drive with a buddy:

http://forkenswift.com/offsite/motor...hiny-above.jpg
I've also got a '98 Pontiac Firefly (Metro clone for the Canadian market, same as Wave = Aveo) modded for efficiency, and picked up a '91 Firefly (metro) convertible to fix up a month or so back as well.
These entry level GM cars are what got me interested in the Aveo.
Wow. Yesterday I was looking at an idea of converting the Aveo to Electric when the engine wears out. Was looking up Solar Panels for the house and found a company up north that does automotive electric conversions.
I have only seen one electric in action, and it shocked me. It was quick.
The electris Shelby cobra is kick ass.
Electrics can be insanely fast: like the Tesla Roadster. For a fast conversion, check out the videos of the White Zombie (Datsun) drag racing.
Mine's not fast at all (way slower than stock!). It's just a low voltage, low cost grocery getter. Converted it just out of curiosity basically.
Casper: someone's done an Aveo conversion already: http://www.evalbum.com/2852
thats a cool aveo, but the range is a killer
And there you have the main issue EV's have always faced. Nothing that bags of money can't solve though! (Better battery chemistry).
i would install a miata rear end with a low resistance generator instead of a center dif.. you could probably fit one larger enough that at highway speed it could protentially produce enough electricity to power the motor, taking the batteries out of the equation. you might need to add a few hp to the motor to make up for the added drag, but i think it would be worth it.
i am not sure of the currents / amps / all that stuff with ev cars though.
(if you take that idea and sell it, i want some money too)
Haha, I think you just invented the perpetual motion machine rabbit, or another incarnation of it. :)
But Darin, you forgot to tell them the name of your electric metro, the Forkenswift! (forklift parts + suzuki swift) Dunno why, but its just an instant classic. Its fun for the whole family.
I have my '00 Camaro and my girlfriends '09 G5
i like the porsche rims on that rabbit!
here is the daily driver (aveo is the "family car")

The wheels on that Yaris look great.
Interesting photography too - was that you moving a light around in a long exposure? Interesting effect.

Question about electric cars: why can't electric ars be hooked up with alternators? Is it because it would require a large alternator, but then that would be more wieght and.... What about a series of a few alternators? Is there a difference in currents? (as you can see I'm no an electrician). It just seems like an electric car should have one, even if all it does is extend the range of the vehicle.
You could even install one on/by driveshaft, since it rotates almost constantly to transfer some of the kinetic energy into electric charge. 8)
It's a pretty common question about EV's, but cruising with an alternator/generator engaged to the drivetrain somewhere will actually reduce an electric vehicle's range.
This is because of the inefficiency / conversion losses through from mechanical -> electrical -> chemical energy. It takes more energy from the system to spin an alternator / generator than you get back from it into the battery pack.
The exception is when coasting down hill or braking, when you want to trade kinetic energy for electrical energy (a.k.a."regen" - regenerative braking).
Would adding solar panels to the roof be cost efficient?
