have you seen how much body roll an Aveo has? I can understand parts of his 'point' but such generalizations are uncalled for. For example, you take and aveo and a fit and while the fit may look better doing it, they both have cornering speeds within a few MPH. I have driven 7 different cars at Willow Springs and all of them take turn two between 80-83... well faster going in or exiting, but the sustained speed is about 81-83, this is my old 93 Subaru, 3 other subarus varying from stock 09WRX, 04 WRX Wagon, and an 02 Bugeye, a Mazdaspeed Protege, my daewoo lanos even.

That said on turn 8 it's a high speed, 120 in the Mazda, 95 in the aveo as it simply would not accelerate anymore. When doing passing drills, the guy in the other car told me the entire rear was just moving back and forth... not the body, but the rear torsion beam was moving side to side.. guess they should have installed a panhard bar.

Overall, the suspension is crap on the aveo, the body is soft and getting front struts... well, can we even do that yet? That being said, I didn't buy this car to do track events and it's a lot of fun around town.

yeah I wasnt trying to vouch for the aveo, though. I like the handling compared to my old daewoo lanos, escort and pt crusier. I just dont like honda owners's attitudes thinking that they are the **** because they got them some JDM headlights. The aveo is a good daily driver and the insurance is cheap, not much of a racing machine out if the box.

Trying to compare a Fit with an Aveo isn't a worthwhile comparison.
      Aveo Base Price: $12,685
You shouldn't have to pay much more dealer invoice for an Aveo though ($11,500). I paid $10,700 for my 2007 LS sedan, which included all taxes and dealer fees.

      Fit base price: $14,750.
And you're not going to get any discounts at all. I haven't seen any with an MSRP under $16,500. And you're going to get tagged with all the dealer fees they want.

Thats between a 30-50% price difference between the two. Just because the two look the same, doesn't mean that they compete with each other. A more accurate comparison would be between the Saturn Astra and the Fit.

The Fit is a much better car according to all the reviews, but it should be because it is a more expensive car.

The true competitors to the Aveo are the Yaris, Versa, Accent, and Rio (am I forgetting any?)

Idk, I can't argue the Fit is a great car but the attitude is a little uncalled for. But everyone today is brand-loyal. I actually like hondas but only for their aftermarket cababilities. I think the Fit is more accurately compared to the Kia Soul or a Prius. I do not like the Yaris, it was not comfortable and the new aveo had a bit more power out of the box and for the price I got more options on my 09 aveo as a base model yaris.

Re: why I do not like honda and honda owners

i use to post on fit freaks...but there are a lot of dbags. i am tempted to post that we can't help that some aveo drivers are retarded. i think my aveo corners rather well with just lowering springs...and i am pretty sure the aveo/kalos has been around longer than the fit...all the japanese have ever done is taken something someone else has done and make it better, therefore its easier to win a competition when you've already copied the competition's stuff as a base platform

i cant say i know which is better since i have only owned the aveo, but i have beaten the crap out of my aveo (2004 hatch) at times and its taken its fair share of abuse from the road and i have not had a single problem with the car. People always complain about the gas mileage, but i can get 34 mpg when i drive the car properly. They always seem to try and compare the price but I have no clue where they get their numbers from but ive never heard of any one getting a fit under msrp yet aveo owners can get aveos under ten grand.....

the fit guys are right, the aveo is a daewoo with the chevy bowtie slapped on it
as for the "made in china" there are a lot of parts in the car that are made in china, 1 guy said the aveo reminds him of a hugo i think the smart car reminds me of the hugo

Re: why I do not like honda and honda owners

Im not going to argue that the Fit is not better than the Aveo in any aspect (handling, power, build quality). but I do find it idiotic to say that another vehicle is crap based on what you observed another driver do.

I have out handled/ out "balled" driver's of Civics, a lancer, a G35, and yes even a Fit to name a few, through turns. Ive even seen more than a few instances of drivers loosing control of their vehicles in seemingly impossible situations, like striaght roads. But im not going to make a judgement about those vehicles. Because often the case i know for a fact they could outshine the Aveo in handing. Its about the driver's skill or lack of guts to be willing to push their car harder.

Im not saying I am a highly skilled driver, Im just saying that to brag about observations of that one has seen on the open road of other driver's behavior is pointless.

Also, a few point out that they have driven a friend or acquaintance's vehicle, I dont see that as a good measurement of capability. Ive driven vehicles that belong to friend's of mine and I didnt push them any where near how I drive my own car at times or in daily situations. I wouldnt even be able to drive them long enough to get accustomed enough to even attempt anything.
