i'd stop working. buy house of dreams w/ a few rides. get wife whatever shes wants. maybe open a business of customizing cars/ painting. get my family outta mexico since its gettin pretty bad now.
First. restore my Monte Carlo to MY specs (about $20,000-30,000).
Buy either an Aveo or a Ford Fiesta daily driver (maybe both. lol)
Buy and restore my dream car to my specs (a 1976 Lancia Scorpion, preferably powered by either a GM Quad 4 or a GM LQ1 V6)
Buy my dad the truck he wants (new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab LTZ 5.3L automatic with every option >$40,000)
have a custom house built (me and my dad oddly enough share the same dream house. large garage loaded with snap-on tools, and engine hoist and a lift, large kitchen, living room with a fireplace. basement made into a lounge/gameroom/bar. And 5-7 bedrooms.)
Open a driving school that forces all students to learn to drive manual, automatic, different emergency maneuvers with FR, FF, MR, and RR cars with different drivetrains: FWD, AWD, and RWD, learn to use your turn signal, and learn to do proper maintenance. The school would have it's own short circuit racetrack in the back)
Any left over would be shared with the rest of my family.

I would take half the money and put it away to be saved, probably in overseas accts. Theni would take the other half and buy a large plot of land and build a very accomadating home. I'd prolly do this in Arizona or New Mexico. Then, I would set up trust funds for my kids (asuming I have kids in the future). I'd make it so they couldn't touch the money until they were 28 y.o. because I want them to learn that they can't have everything in life handed to them. They have to work hard just as I did. Doesn't mean I won't help them but they better know that it's ok to break a sweat and if after a weeks hard work they have blisters and calouses on their hands they should be proud. And I'll show then some cool **** along the way too. Then I'd open a hospital and a security firm. I don't know medical ****, but I know other people do and hospitals are huge money pits. Hopefully it would succeed. I'd run the security firm myself tho. I would do that for the rest of my life til I'm 65 or so. Then I'd retire and hopefully my children will be ready and willing to take over. I would then buy a nice sturdy yacht and sail around the world and see as much as I could until I die. I would make sure I die a happy man. I'd do all the other bulls4it to, like buy a couple nice cars, maybe trick one out. But mostly I'd go for a very peaceful and quiet life with a huge focus on my family and friends. Oh and I would try and buy aveoclub forum ;)
500 mil in winnings = @ 235 mil in a one time check.. at @ 2% interest = 4.7 mil a year to live off of and never touch your winnings.
I would buy a civic
I'd build a nice comfy house, with a shop just outside of town on a few acres of land. Find a 64 impala to fix up. A few other toys, and enough investments to be set for a few generations.

All harassment aside, I would close down the store I work at, and completely renovate it (family owned business). After that, I would throw it into seperate $90,000 accounts, sit on it for a year, and live off the interest while working part time doing whatever I wanted.

That would be of course after hiring a huge tugboat to tow a glacier down to where I was going to live so I never ran out of ice for my fruity rum punch drinks.
Probably finally work on that 2000 Corvette like I've wanted to for the last few years. And buy EVERYTHING that I would want to get for that project. And with that experience, and left over money, build a shop & start my custom car business. It'll mainly be focused on the performance aspect of things.

I was reading through this thread again, I can't believe that I skipped over this part! That's what's wrong with so many driver's ed schools these days. We have a 911 Driving (cops make it extra special apparently, so pretty high price) & a Go Driving school. Those guys just go into local neighborhoods and call it good. Those guys freaking suck! I went through a driver's school where it wasn't a major name that people are familiar with. The guy that ran it was the only guy there, had only 1 car, did classes all day, and did drives with the students. But the way he did the drives were cool. We had to do 7 drives, each an hour long, but he'd take us through city roads, country roads, mountainous roads, highways, freeways, & even parking lots! He made sure that we knew how to drive everywhere with various speed limits.Quote:

True. I forgot to mention that you'd also want to make sure that they can handle driving in the snow and not be the screw up in every accident in the snow. Or the reason why traffic is being so damn slow when you know it can be going faster. And for those reasons, I would hold back driving in the snow for a while. Maybe when I have been driving for another year or 2. But that's just me and my feelings I guess.Quote:

over in europe, automatic cars pretty much don't exist at all, i remember when i went to France, i was driving a 5 speed minivan
Was it a nissan? I have seen them in Domincan Republic.
Used to be able to buy American minivans with manual transmissions (Dodge Caravan... for the first couple of years it was out). With a turbo, too. :)
Is Mazda5 a minivan - it's probably larger than the original Caravan. You can get that with a manual.
